Alvan L. Blunk, 71, passed away, Friday, May 16, 2014 at Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville.
He was born in Chicago, IL on March 10, 1943. Alvan was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Maxon Marine, Commonwealth Aluminum and Lloyd’s Mechanical Engineering, prior to opening Paragon Industrial Services in 1983. He retired from engineering in 2000 and opened The Yankee Peddler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and antiques.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Mary (Wathen) Blunk of Tell City, IN; daughters, Traci (Mark) Woodruff of Evansville and Krista Blunk of Los Altos, CA; grandsons, Adam and Seth Horty of Evansville; sister, Carolyn (Bill) Coomer of Tell City; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is his mother, Golda (Thompson) Harrison and step-father, Ernie Harrison and his father, Alva Lee Blunk.
A Memorial service will be held at 7:00PM CST Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 2:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.
