Tony was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had worked construction, taught welding at Ball State and retired as a driver for Enterprise. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. in Anderson, IN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his children, William “Bill” (Sue) Russell of Derby, IN Violet (Ronnie) Yeager of Cannelton, IN and Rebecca Russell-Gootee of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Tomee Sue Bunner, Kandy Wright, Wade Russell, Rachel Berg, Christopher Hendershot, Ashley Russell and Nathanael Gootee; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Russell of Gatchel, IN; sisters, Delores “Fern” Laverty of Connecticut and Liz Lindauer of New Boston, IN
Preceding him in death are his parents; his first wife, Sarah Weedman Russell; his second wife, Irene Russell; granddaughter, Edwina Yeager; brothers, Doris Ray, Homer and Pete Russell; sisters, Mary Glover, Alta Pearl Stolz and Nellie Hempfling.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M.CST Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Sister Dea Goad will officiate. Burial will follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery, Evanston. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 P.M. and Wednesday 9:00-10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
