Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Werner, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.
The oldest of four children, Betty was born on May 1, 1925 to George and Elizabeth (Hess) Rudolph. A life long resident of Tell City, Betty graduated from Tell City High School in 1943 and married Frank A. "Bud" Werner. Together they owned and operated Werner’s Market, also known as the "Bunny Bread" store because of its neon lighted sign. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are her children, Marsha (David) Grundhoefer of Santa Claus, IN, DeLane (Denny) Ramsey of Shelbyville, IN, Terri (Richard) Gill of Suwanee, GA, and Robert (Janet) Werner of Evansville, IN; sisters, Anna Owen of Evansville, IN, Ellie Barker of Hot Springs, AR; brother, George Rudolph, Jr. of Tell City, IN; Grandchildren, Todd and Dava Grundhoefer, Emily Ramsey-Soller, Wesley and Whitney Werner, Natalie Turner, Olivia and Reid Gill; Great-Grandchildren, Claire, Caroline and Charlotte Soller.
Preceding her in death are her husband and parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. CST on Monday, January 23, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-6:00 P.M. and Monday from 8:30 A.M .to 9:30 A.M. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
