Candy Boerste Obituary

Candice A. "Candy" Boerste, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Perry County Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Evansville, IN on May 18, 1948 to the late Rose (Dauby) and Ralph Reed. Also preceding her in death is her mother- in- law, Donnie Boerste.

Candy was married on November 19, 1976 to Dean Boerste. She attended Brescia College and earned her Masters in speech pathology from Indiana State University. Candy was a speech pathologist for North-Spencer School Corporation for her first six years and Tell City Troy Township Schools for 28 years. In those 34 years, she helped over 2,500 students and started the Autism Education Communication Program for the schools.

A member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Candy enjoyed nature, being outdoors, painting and art. She loved playing cards with numerous friends, watching college basketball, and was an avid UK and Colts fan. Candy also loved her nieces and nephews, and staying active in their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Boerste of Tell City; sisters, Sheila (John) Austin of Princeton and Pam (Pete) Franzman of Tell City; brothers, Tim (Debbie) Reed of Tell City and Sam Reed of Tell City; father-in-law, Ralph Boerste of Tell City; ten nieces and nephews, Ian, Hana, Eli, and Ellliot Reed, Eric and Brad Franzman, Cassie Franzman-Yost, Ryan Austin, Carrie Merrill-Austin, and Jarrad Austin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. CST on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Entombment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to Mass. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Community Foundation or SIRS.
