Cosmas P. Franchville, 81, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Tell City. He was born to the late Alvin and Emma (Harbaville) Franchville on October 13, 1930 in Apalona.
He married the former Dorothy E. Wheeler at St. John’s Catholic Church near Bristow on November 18, 1952. He had worked at Woodcrafters in Tell City for 26 years. A member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, he enjoyed woodworking, especially building and repairing clocks.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Ed, Charles, Julius, Jesse and Raymond; sisters, Mary, Betty and Sister Mary Noel, O.S.B.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Franchville of Tell City; children, Bob (Sharon) Franchville of Gentryville, Tom (Julie) Franchville of Rocky Point, Jeanne Powers of Newburgh, Clayton Franchville of New Albany, Dennis (Barbara) Franchville of Floyds Knobs, Michael (Jean) Franchville of Derby, Clarence Franchville of Tell City, and Faye (Wayne) Ransome of Huntingburg; twin brother, Damian Franchville of Hobart, IN; sister, Margie Hudson of Shelbyville, IN;18 grandchildren, Jerry and Christine Franchville, Carrie Engelbrecht, Jaclyn Hill, Wade Franchville, Jenna Powers, Robert and Shelly Franchville, John and Doug Franchville, Denise Dvorak, Jennifer Froning, Jim and Joe Franchville, Joanie Troutman, Valerie Franchville, Angie LaGrange and Tim Ransome; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon Thursday (CST), July 5, 2012 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Father Tom Richstatter O.F.M. will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 3-7 PM with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M. and Thursday from 9-11 A.M. at the funeral home.
