Dan Peter Obituary

Daniel William "Dan" Peter, 64, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Robley Rex VAMC Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Dan was born July 27, 1949 in Tell City to the late Lester and Juanita (Damin) Peter.

He was united in marriage on June 27, 1971 to Brenda Arnold. He was veteran of the US Army Air Corp. 82nd Airborne. Dan retired as a Superintendent for Danco Construction INC., where he was a carpenter for over 40 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1172, Alton American Legion Post #133, he served as Past President of Perry County Parks and Recreation Board, he coached athletics at Perry Central, including 5th grade basketball, and he was volunteer driver for disabled veterans. As a hobby, Dan enjoyed making homemade wine and giving it away to friends.

Surviving is his wife, Brenda Peter of Derby; children, Stacey (James) Hathaway of Phenix City, AL, Danielle (Josh) Hippen of Derby and Derek (Kate) Peter of Louisville; a brother, Greg Peter of Leopold; a sister, Vicky Goffinet of Gatchel; grandchildren, Case Joshua and Kaiser Daniel Hippen, and Mason Daniel Peter and step-grandchild, Catelynn Louise Hathaway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00AM CST Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Dennis Duvielus will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00-8:00PM and Tuesday 8:00-9:15AM at the funeral home. There will be a K of C Prayer service at 7:30PM Tuesday.

In lieu memorial contributions may be made to the Dan Peter Scholarship for Building Trades. Envelopes will available at the funeral home.
