Daniel Curtis Goble, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
He was born January 5, 1931 to Daniel Curtis and Mary Ida (Marcilliat) Goble
of Terry, Indiana.
Daniel was united in marriage to Dorothy Wissel Goble on July 7, 1952. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 213, a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939, St. Paul Catholic Church, past member of St. Paul’s Church council, as well as, St. Mary’s Cemetery Board.
He had a 33 year career as an educator in the Perry Central School System. He enjoyed working on his farm, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving him is his wife, Dorothy, of 65 years; daughters, Kathy (Jim) Smith of Indianapolis and Brenda (Noel) Clayton of Owensboro; sons, Daniel (Joan) Goble of Tell City, and Patrick (Michelle) Goble of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Amanda Smale of Indianapolis, Lesley Smale of Chicago, Julie (Greg) Losurdo of New York, Nathan Goble of Jasper, Matthew (Mayme) Clayton of Lexington, Kyle (Eryn) Clayton of Lexington, Hannah Goble and Nicholas Goble of Indianapolis; and great-grandson, Henry Daniel Clayton of Lexington.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Cornelius Jamison; sisters, Jo Ella Rice and Suzanne Kraus; and infant daughter, Rebecca Jo.
Funeral Services will be at 10 am Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 – 7 pm Friday, August 18, with a K of C Service at 7 pm and from 8:30 – 9:30 am Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery or to the K of C Fourth Degree Scholarship Fund.
