Delbert "Del" R. James Sr. passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center- Lincoln Hills Nursing Home March 10, 2017, in Tell City, IN, after a short stay in the hospital at the age of 88.
He was born March 23, 1928 in Vincennes, Indiana to Earl and Mildred James. He was a World War II Veteran and loved to do anything with his wife, Lola. They especially enjoyed Square Dancing, Bowling and playing Bingo together. Del was also a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He retired from Alcoa in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lola Mae (Sauter) James of Troy, IN; his two children, Donna M. Parris and her husband Edward Parris of Knoxville, TN and Delbert R. James Jr. and his wife Evelyn James of Robards, KY; a Godchild, Anita Moore of Henderson, KY; 5 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers; 3 Sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Earl and wife Lucille and Delbert's mother, Mildred along with 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Rodney Schmeltz will officiate the ceremony. Visitation for Delbert will be from 2 to 7 pm, Monday, March 13, 2017 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 am Tuesday at the Church. A reception will follow and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Delbert's life.
