He was born in Perry County on April 25, 1928 to the late John Joseph and Elizabeth Victoria (Jacob) Claise.
Delmar was a 1946 graduate of Tell City High School. He was married on October 7, 1947 to Clara Maye Coultas, who precedes him in death in 2012. He was a truck driver for Can-Tex and retired from the Perry County Highway Department. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed fishing and telling stories.
Surviving are his children, Jayne (Bob) Glenn of Tell City, Karen Oost (Barry Taylor) of Derby and Harry (Angie) Claise of Cannelton; a sister, Regina Wilgus of Indianapolis; 12 Grandchildren, Stephanie Hazelip, Christina Gogel, Tammy Harris, Heather Glenn, Jason Glenn, Melissa Dauby, Amanda Carter, Chad Oost, Ashley Claise, Christopher Lawalin, Hunter Claise and Jacob Claise; 15 Great-Grandchildren
Preceding him in death is his wife, Clara Maye Claise; daughters, Becky Smith and Jacci Claise; sisters, Frances LeClere and Joan Cotton; brothers, Herb and Gus Claise.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM CST Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Richstatter, OFM will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral on Sunday from 1:00-7:00 PM and Monday from 8:00-9:30AM at the funeral home.
