Donald H. Goffinet, 80, passed away July 13, 2017 at his residence in Tell City.
He was born April 27, 1937 to the late Coy and Louise Schraner Goffinet in Perry County. He was united in marriage to Jean Sandage on April 14, 1958.
Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 until 1959. He later served as Director of Data Processing for the Tell City Chair Co., and was involved in updating their system to an IBM system.
He served 2 terms as Tell City Councilman in the early 1980s. During this time he oversaw the remodeling of city hall.
Don was a member of the Tell City Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, was avidly involved in genealogy, loved playing Bridge, and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Jean, his children: Sherri Harding (Tim) of Tell City; Jeff Goffinet of W. Chicago, IL, Kara Owen (Donnie) of Hillsborough, NC. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Steve Harding and Brian Harding of Evansville, Kristin Goffinet of Chicago, Jake Goffinet and Kayla Goffinet of W. Chicago, and Mikaila and Alyssa Adams of Hillsborough, NC.; and 4 great grandchildren. All seven of his siblings survive, Marian Canarie of Boonville, Betty Taylor of Ft. Branch, Allen Goffinet of Tell City, Stan Goffinet of Haynes City, FL, Janice Howland, of Tell City, Carol Taylor of Dexter, and Harold Goffinet of Rockport.
A private entombment service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to a U.S. Marine Corps Charity.
