Doris Lee Hess, 84, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
Doris was born October 3, 1929 to Elvis and Loretta (Lamar) Smithhart.
She was a 1947 graduate of Dale High School. On June 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Renus Hess. Together, they co-owed Hess Electric and Hess Rentals, and she was a distributor for Tupperware.
Doris was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, National Campers Association, William Tell Yahtzee Club and the William Tell Swiss Kapaders. She enjoyed reading.
Surviving are her children, Ken Hess of North Ft. Meyers, FL, Merry Hale, Sue Bosler, Tom Hess, Sheila Yelland and Ed Hess, all of Tell City; grandchildren, Erik and Broc Hess, Kris Hale, Emilee Sosh, Erin and Alan Hess, Brandon and Jerad Yelland; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister in law, Bernice Fischer of New Boston.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Renus Hess, in 2005 and son in law, David Yelland, in 2008.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. CST, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 P.M., with a D of I service at 6:30 P.M., and Thursday morning from 8:00-9:30 A.M.
