Edna Alice Stein, 101, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Spencer County on November 12, 1910 to the late George and Alvina (Huebschman) Racine.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in LWML and quilting. She was married on June 15, 1930 to Elmer Stein, who precedes her in death.
Also preceding her in death are sisters, Irma Purtzer, Mildred and Hilda Stein and a brother Henry Racine.
Surviving are children, Eugene Stein and wife, Iris of Evanston, IN and Lois Hawhee of Santa Claus, IN; eight grandchildren, Lynn Jamerson, Lisa Fenech, Karen Smith, Dirk Stein, Cathy Ramsey, Angela Dirr, Becky Harlen, Kris Feagan and Tim Hawhee; 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Evanston. Pastor Michael Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at church.
