Enid attended one-room grade schools in Perry County and Bristow High School. On December 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Jennings R. Kessner who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Elden, Marvin, Coy and Lavis “Jack” McKim and sisters, Nelda Foerster and Janet Hammack.
She retired from Commercial Filters in 1985. Enid was an active member of Bristow Christian Church. In past years she had enjoyed square dancing, camping and fishing. More recently, she enjoyed playing bingo, attending activities at the William Tell Senior Citizens Center, bird watching, and participating in family activities, including her great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an avid euchre player all her life and a fan of Indiana University basketball.
She is survived by her son, Raymond (Norma) Kessner, of St. Anthony, IN and her daughter, Ina VanHoosier of rural Troy, a sister, Phillis Gleason of Racine, WI, grandchildren, Kelly Green, Jason Kessner, Jeffrey and Mark Hagedorn, and step grandsons, Jay and Allen VanHoosier, eight great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and her beloved friend, Wayne Albin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Brother AL Madden will officiate. Burial will follow in Beard Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-7:00 P.M. CST and Thursday, 9:00-11:00 AM CST at the funeral home.
