Eugene “Geno” Risse, 71, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:20 a.m. in Rockport, IN. He was born in Spencer County on March 6, 1941 to the late Charles and Ethel (Parr) Risse.
He was a Vietnam Army veteran and lifetime member of American Legion Post 213 and V.F.W Post 2939, where he served as Past Commander of both Posts. Gene was married on October 17, 1964 to Carol Leimgruber. He was retired from Commonwealth Aluminum. He enjoyed woodworking, mechanical work fishing, attending grandkids’ baseball games and being with family and friends.
Surviving are children, Vicki (Dennis) Duley of Rockport, Patty McCallister, Gary (Tiffany) Risse and Michael Phillips, all of Tell City; sisters, Lois Braun of Tell City, Maxine Cotton of Chrisney and Joan Eiden of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Proceeding him in death are his parents; wife, Carol Risse; brother, Charles “Larry” Risse and sisters, Mary Poole and Charlotte O’Brien.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Brother Ray Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Troy Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 8:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
