Gertrude C. Williams, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was born in Spencer County, IN on May 19, 1924 to the late Henry and Sadie (Huff) Hess.
She was united in marriage on December 29, 1945 to Joseph R. Williams, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are siblings, Jane Englert, Mae and Marie Turner, Jenny Miller, Josephine Olberding, Henry, Casper and Elmer Hess.
Gertrude worked as a cook for several clubs and restaurants, including the Wagon Wheel and Knights of Columbus. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Surviving are children, Charles (Judy) Williams of The Villages, FL, Carol (Harvey) Bays and Pam Burst, both of Tell City brothers, John Hess of Ft. Collins, CO and Bob Hess of Tell City; grandchildren, Steven Williams, Mike and Michelle Wallace, Taryn (Chris) Holbrook, Wes (Madeline) and Kayci Peter; step grandchildren, Dusty Snively and Angela Carlson; three great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Chaplain Jack Neighbors will officiate. Visitation will also be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
