Gladys Ellen Elverd, 87, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at her home. She was born July 3, 1926 to William and Glessie (Beard) VanWinkle.
Gladys was married on August 14, 1948 to Elbert Elverd, who survives. A homemaker, she had worked at General Electric for 13 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and quilting. She was a lifelong member of Oak Ridge Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
Surviving is her husband, Elbert Elverd of Bristow; children, Kay Eastham and husband, Terry of Petersburg, Becky Ebert and husband, Gary of Ferdinand, Billy Joe Elverd and wife, Kathy of Bristow and Gregory Elverd of Bristow; brothers, Hilbert and Bob VanWinkle, both of Bristow; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nellie Mullen and Dorothy Hayes; brothers, Seddie, James and Radie VanWinkle, and a great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. CST at Oak Ridge Apostolic Pentecostal Church. Pastor David Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in Bristow Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the church.
