Irene Tempel Obituary
Irene Tempel, 82, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born February 27, 1930 to the late Bernard and Emma (Jasper) Schaefer. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Jenny, Juliette and Millie and a brother, Carl Schaefer.
She was retired from General Electric after 33 years and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
Surviving are children, Terry (Janie) Tempel of Derby, Jerry (Linda) Tempel of Tell City, Pat (Shirley) Tempel of Branchville, Dan (Jackie) Tempel of Bristow, Greg (Sheila) Tempel of Cannelton, Mark (Bonnie) Tempel of Tell City and Sherri (Mike) Wigginton of Evansville; brothers, Bernard "Chuck" Schaefer of Louisville, KY and Earl Schaefer of Chapel Hill, NC; sisters, Ramona Zoeller and Maxine Salvage, both of Louisville and Joanne Daugherty of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren and 27 great- grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Arthritis Foundation.
