James William Baysinger passed away November 27, 2017 at his home in Tell City.
He was born December 30, 1919 in Magnet, Indiana to the late Rob and Lucy (James) Baysinger. He was married to Alice Connor on June 26, 1941. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother Justin and two sisters Mary Hubert and Martha Kaufman.
Jim was a Navy veteran of WW II serving from October of 1943 to January of 1946. He played baseball with the Tell City Greys, a semi-pro baseball team. He retired after 40 years of owning and operating Baysinger Brothers Shell Station with his brother Justin.
Jim was and avid sports fan and golfer. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hoosier Heights Country Club, The American Legion and The Moose lodge.
He is survived by a son, Bob (Paula) Baysinger of Glasgow, KY; two daughters, Jane Baysinger of Pine Village, IN and Mariellen (Mark) Cassidy of New Albany, IN; two grandsons, Bryan (Melissa) Baysinger of Glasgow, KY and Jared Baysinger of Burlington, KY; two great grandchildren Preston and Kate.
Funeral Services will be 10 am Saturday December 2 at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 – 7 pm Friday, and from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Saturday. December 1 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
