He was born December 8, 1929 to the late John B. and Stella (Talbott) Rust. Also preceding him in death is his brother, Laddie Keith Rust.
Jay owned Rusty’s Barber Shop for 21 years. He later worked as a payroll clerk for Maxon’s and B.F. Shaw Corporation. He served in the National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post #213 and the Independent Order of Oddfellows #353. He enjoyed music and genealogy.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Emma Jean (Montgomery) Rust; children, Barbara (Gary) Sandage, Mitzi (Bill) Patmore, all of Tell City, and John (Teri) Rust of Lebanon, OH; four grandchildren, Matt Patmore and Laura Sandage, both of Tell City, Jonathan Rust of Dallas, TX and Justin Rust of Franklin, OH.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. CST Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Reid will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service.
