He was born February 11, 1950 in Tell City to the now late Otis and Ruth (Mills) Dixon.
A 1968 graduate of Tell City High School, he was also a graduate of Owensboro Tech College in 1974. A Navy veteran, he retired from General Electric after 30 years as a Tool and Dye Maker and later worked as maintenance manager at Oakwood Health Campus for 10 years. Jerry was married on December 6, 1969 to Karen Evans.
He was a member of the Free Masons, American Legion Post #213 and the NRA. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, skeet shooting at home, rebuilding his 1963 Corvaire and spending time with his five grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Karen (Evans) Dixon of Tell City; his daughters, Kristina Gayer and husband, Brant of Leopold and Stephanie Lindsey and husband, Jeremy of Bowling Green, Ky; five grandchildren, Karissa, Braedy and Kallie Gayer, Lorelai and Isabella Lindsey; brothers, Jim and Wayne Dixon of Cannelton and Roger Dixon of Tell City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, with military rites from the American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
