He was born on June 29, 1944.
John was an Army veteran. He was a truck driver for Foster Brothers and a member of American Legion Post #213. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Jeff Splater of Morganfield, KY, Beth Splater, Mary Splater and Mandy Splater (Travis Suters) , all of Tell City; sisters, Sheila Bartlett and Barbara Sturgeon; brothers, Alfred, Marvin and Fred Weatherholt; nine grandchildren, Matthew Glenn, Alysha Northerner, Colton Splater, Ethan and Austin Flood, Haylee and Taylor Splater, Daisey and Caden Suters.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Sylvia (Friedel) Splater; father, Jess Weatherholt; mother, Anna (Hess) Splater; step-father, Casper Splater; and a sister, Anita Owen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Troy, IN with military rites. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 Wednesday and 8:30-10:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
