S. Kathleen Hauenstein, 91, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City, Indiana.
She was born in Tell City on October 9, 1924 and was preceded in death by her mother,
Mattie Eller (née Lawalin) Snyder, father, John Walter Snyder, sisters Emogene Snyder, Glodean Coffin and a granddaughter Tori Kay Hauenstein.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Albert E. Hauenstein of Tell City.
Children, Carol (Wayne) Henke of Greenwood, IN, David (Carolyn) Hauenstein of Elizabethtown, KY, Janice Hauenstein of Scottsdale, AZ, Nena (Tony) Manci of Franklin, TN, Sarah (Lew) Manci
of New Bremen, OH, John (Rhonda) Hauenstein of Tell City, IN.
Grandchildren, Ryan Hauenstein, Andrew Manci, Lisa Manci, Erika Hauenstein, Audra Manci, Samantha Manci, and Alyssa Henke.
She was born and raised in Tell City, Indiana, graduated from Tell City High School in 1944, married the love of her life, Albert in 1951. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker to six children, including two sets of twins. She was a lifetime member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She worked and retired from the family business, Hauenstein's Clothing Store, 20 years ago.
She, more than anything loved her family, enjoyed travel, reading, the Ohio River and birdwatching. She was a member of the Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Tell City Historical Society. In 2014 she was recognized as a direct descendant of four Perry County First Families; Snyder, Lawalin, Sutcliffe and Parks.
Funeral Services will held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Rev. JT Hills will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00PM CST, with a D.A.R. service at 6:00PM, and Saturday 10:00-10:30AM CST at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
