Kenneth E. (Ken) Garrett, age 71 of Tell City, Indiana and formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on Monday, December 4, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 22, 1946 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Paul and Lena Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth E. Garrett, Jr. of Tiffin, OH; sister, Christine Latham of Marion, OH; three brothers, Larry and Jimmy of Tiffin, OH, William (Jodi) of Marion, OH and half-brother, Charles Groves (Grace) of Portland, TN.
Ken graduated from Bloomville High School in Bloomville, OH and married Angie (Goffinet) Garrett who survives.
He worked for Quaker Oats in Marion, OH for 2 years then for UPS. For 25 years, 18 years as delivery driver and seven years in Management. He retired in 1995 and moved to Tell City with his wife, Angie, where he has been a resident for 22 years. He was a seasonal worker for INDOT for 7 years until a disability forced him to retire.
Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a member of William Tell Center and enjoyed Saturday night dances where he had a gift of entertaining people with his great sense of humor. He also enjoyed nascar racing, country music, and Ohio State football and basketball, playing cards and socializing with his many friends, especially his buddies at the Hide Away. He never met a stranger and was a kind and generous man and always willing to help someone in need for encouragement, with a joke, compliment or a big hug. His quick wit always made people laugh in times of illness or misfortune.
Ken is survived by his wife, Angie, of 32 years; daughter, Kim (Kevin) Walker of Rocky Mount, VA, and stepson, Brian Bigler of Troy, IN; sisters, Paulette (Richard) Leach of Mishawaka, IN, Brenda (Gary) Fatzinger of Wooster, OH, Gina (Tim) Pauley of Tiffin, OH; grandchildren, Jordan Walker of Bellefontaine, OH, Breanne Walker of Rocky Mount, VA, Kendra Garrett of Lexington, OH, Kailey (Willie) Breedlove of Mansfield, OH; great-grandson, Kasin Garrett of Lexington, OH; great-granddaughter, Sophia Breedlove of Mansfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Per Ken’s request, there will be no visitation and burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville, OH at a later date.
