Leoma Welsh Obituary
Leoma Marie Welsh, 84, passed away, Friday, July 4, 2014 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.
She was born in Evanston, IN on April 11, 1930 to the late Alvin and Mathilda (Polster) Wittman. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Reuben Wittman.
Leoma was a 1947 graduate of Dale High School and 1955 graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. She worked as a registered nurse for ten years in Denver and 28 years at Perry County Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and had served as a deacon’s assistant. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, and her church.
Surviving are her children, Barbara Welsh Carver of Tell City and Joel Clyde Welsh of Leicester, NC; a brother, Alfred Wittman of Evanston.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM CST Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Gadbaw will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM and Monday from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the church.
