Leonard Faulkenberg, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 10, 1930 to the later Marshal and Rosalia (Georges) Faulkenberg. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Gilda (Schraner) Faulkenberg; brothers, Martin, Elmer and Lafe Faulkenberg, and a sister, Marie Pucel.
Leonard was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Japan from 1954-1956. A Boilermaker, he was retired from Maxine Marine. Leonard was avid coon hunter and a member of Spencer County Coon Club and St. Paul Church. He was a Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Hoosier fan and he enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Bettye Jo Brock of Evansville and Karen (Dennis) Strahl of Tell City; brother, Henry (Ida Mae) Faulkenberg of Ferdinand; sister, Rose Waninger of Tell City; brother in law, Kenneth (Naomi) Schraner; sisters in law, Sue Faulkenberg of Tell City, Geno Faulkenberg of Louisville and Judith Schraner of Tell City; grandchildren,Phillip (Robin) Strahl, Wes (Nicole) Garner, Aaron (Stephanie) Strahl, Greg (Trixie) Garner and Jeni (Clint) Albin; 17 great-grandchildren
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Paul Church. Father Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Burial will follow in Troy Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00-8:00PM and Friday from 8:30-9:30 AM at the funeral home.
