Mark Oberhausen Obituary

Mark Anthony Oberhausen, 73, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN.

He was born in Evansville, IN on March 14, 1942 to the late Anthony "Tony" and Hazel (Anderson) Oberhausen. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Sam Karl Oberhausen.

Mark was a 1960 graduate of Tell City High School and 1964 graduate of Notre Dame. He retired from General Electric after 31 years.

A lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Mark was also a member of American Legion Post 213, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1424 and the Tell City Historical Society, where he currently served as curator of the Tell City Museum.

Mark was active in several of the Schweitzer Fest musicals and was a driver for the American Eye Institute. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, traveling, history, baseball and Notre Dame football.

Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Meredith (Becker) Oberhausen of Tell City; daughters, Kim Garrett and husband, Mike, of Cannelton and Christie Ensor and husband, Jamie, of Greencastle; sister, Ann Manley and husband, Larry, of Tell City; twin brother, John Oberhausen and wife, Pat, of Tell City; sister- in- law, Louann Oberhausen of Tell City; grandchildren, Drake, Bryce, Jhett and Gage Garrett, Samantha and Michael Herrmann; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Father Thomas Richstatter O.F.M. will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to Mass. Following the Mass, please join Mark's family in the Parish Hall to celebrate his life. A private burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery. Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Mark's memory to the Tell City Historical Society, St. Paul Catholic Church or The Sam Oberhausen Scholarship Fund through the Perry County Community Foundation.
