William Henry Mulzer, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Tell City. He was born in Spencer County on March 27, 1926. A graduate of Troy High School he was as a farmer and enjoyed his work and taking care of his horses. He was united in marriage on September 16, 1952 to Marita “Rita” Harpenau. William was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and held various church offices. He had also been a volunteer fireman with the New Boston Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita Mulzer of Evanston; sons, Larry and David Mulzer of Evanston; daughter, Doris Schaefer and husband Randy of St. Meinrad; sisters, Cornelia Mulzer and Selma Hagerdon of Tell City; grandchildren, Sara Vaal and husband, Chad, Kari and Staci Schaefer; great grandchild, Lane Vaal.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Henry and Frieda (Schultz) Mulzer; sisters, Mildred Scheiber and Alma Mulzer; brother, Robert Mulzer.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael Mueller will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8PM at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home and Saturday from 11:00AM until service time at the church.
