David Fischer Obituary

David Lee Fischer, 85, of Tell City, IN, passed away on Thursday April 11, 2024, at Ascensions St. Vincent Hospital, in Evansville, IN.

 

He was born in Tell City, IN, on December 23, 1938, to the late Leopold and Ella (Freeman) Fischer.

 

David was a 1957 graduate of Tell City High School and attended Purdue University for one year. Afterwards he served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. David was one of the oldest continuous members of the American Legion Post 213. He was employed at Tell City Chair Company from 1963 to 1996. David enjoyed reading, bowling, the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Browns. He was also an avid golfer.

 

He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including his caregivers, Louann Oberhausen, Laura Taylor, and Lynn Varble.

 

In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by his siblings, Luke Fischer, Charles Fischer, Robert Fischer, Jim Fischer, Martha Hoover, Elouise “Bo” Paulin, Tony Fischer, and Rose Johnson.

 

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday April 17, 2024, at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tell City Public Library or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
