Viola "Vi" Gerlach, 94, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born August 4, 1920 to the late Emma (Hauser) and Isaac Wright.
A graduate of Troy High School, Vi was married on August 23, 1941 to Oscar Gerlach. He precedes her in death in May 2011. They were married for 69 years.
She retired from General Electric in 1981, after 31 years. Vi was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and it's Women's Guild, also teaching Sunday school in the cradle roll dept for 40 years, and Columbia Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed attending Tell City Marksmen basketball games, playing cards, working word search and cross word puzzles, and baking.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Collignon of Santa Claus and Marilyn Copeland and husband, Hank of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; grandchildren, Neil (Alison) Collignon, Darin Collignon, Daniel (Kim) Collignon, Beth (Kevin) Hoffman, and Shirley Panek; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary (Adrienne) Collignon, Alex and Noah Collignon, Caleb and Slade Hoffman, Philicity and Abbagail Collignon and Andrew and Emma Panek.
Also preceding her in death is a son- in-law, Cornelius Collignon; a brother, Isaac Wright; and a sister, Cornelia Scott.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM CST on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Pastor JT Hills will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home from Noon until 6:00 PM CST and Monday, 9:00-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
