“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3
Alan Hugh Kessler, 77, passed away October 14, 2023, at his home in Tell City, IN.
He was born on April 1, 1946, in Evansville, IN, the son of the late Russell and Nadene (Taylor) Kessler. Alan was a 1964 graduate of Tell City High School. He was united in marriage to Donna Dauby on May 28, 1973, and together they shared 50 years of happiness.
After graduating from high school, Alan joined the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from the military, he worked at Jim's Men and Boys Wear for 20 years, and then retired after 20 years of service at Branchville Correctional Facility as a correctional officer.
Alan was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ and the church choir. His love for singing and Dr. Ress led Alan to participate in the Schweizer Fest musicals which he dearly enjoyed. Sports was another of Alan’s passions and he coached Little League baseball and football at Tell City Junior High for several years. Watching David and Jace play football was a definite highlight in his life. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, making wooden angels and creating stained glass pieces.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Donna Kessler; his son David (Brandi) Kessler of Owensboro; and two grandchildren, Jace and Kendall Kessler.
In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his brother John Kessler.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Burial will follow immediately after in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
