Anthony “Tony” Fischer, 87, passed away November 19, 2019 at his home.
Born November 19, 1932 in Tell City, he was the son of Leopold “Luke” and Ella Ruth Freeman Fischer. He married Wilma Gramelspacher Rust at St. Paul Catholic Church on June 3, 1967.
Tony retired in 1995 from Commonwealth Aluminum and from the Tell City Water Department in 2005. He was a partner with Don Alvey in Alvey's Cleaners for 12 years.
He was in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and is a member of the American Legion. Tony was a past member of the Tell City Jaycees where he was names Young Man of the Year for his being the first chairman of the Citizen Scholarship Foundation which is still in service.
He was a lifetime member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and a 64 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; a son Raymond Luke Fischer of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Debbie (Bruce) Julian, Cindy Wahl both of Evansville, Jill Bates of Tell City, Kerri Brinkman of Winslow; a brother, David Fischer of Tell City; 7 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are 4 brothers, Leo, Charles, Robert and James; 3 sisters, Elouise ”Bo” Paulin, Martha Hoover and Rose Johnson.
Services will be 10:00 am Monday November 25, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion.
Visitation will be from Noon pm to 5 pm Sunday and 8:30 am to 9:30 am Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Paul Catholic Church.
