Arlene McMahon

Zela Arlene McMahon, of Troy, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2025, she was 64 years old.

She was born on September 23, 1961, in Perry County, Indiana, to the late Charles Burton and Bessie (Johnson) Vandgrift. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Vandgrift, Curtis Vandgrift, and John Vandgrift.

Arlene proudly served in the United States Army. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Hannah Crossley and Robert Miles, son-in-law, Matthew Crossley, and fur baby, Gracie. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and loved playing the lottery, camping, fishing, and mushroom hunting in her favorite spots. She was well known for her infectious laugh and witty sense of humor.

In addition to her children and son-in-law, Arlene is survived by her granddaughters, Addison Miles and Kaydence “Doodle” Miles; her brother, Herman Vandgrift of Waldo, Florida; and her sisters, Mildred Whitehead of Evansville, Juanita Humphrey of Elberfeld, Hazel Finley of Terre Haute, Jewell Patterson of Cloverport, Kentucky, Linda Bryant of Rome, and Barbara Zoerner of Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
