Betty Jean Wilgus

Betty Jean Wilgus, 88, passed away Monday September 28, 2020 at Oakwood Health Campus.

Born April 21, 1932 in Spencer County she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Rena (Scherzer) Snyder. She married John “JT” Wilgus on June 24, 1951 who preceded her in death..

Betty was a teacher for 30 years and and taught at Troy Elementery School, West Terrace School in Evansville and St. Paul School in Tell City where she retired from the Tell City-Troy Township School Corporation. .

She was a member Delta Kappa Gamma, the Perry County Classroom Teachers Association and the Indiana State Teachers Retirement Association and Troy Christian Church..

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela (Mike) Wilson of Louisville; a son Brett Wilgus of Tell City; a grandson, Ben (Bethany) Wilson; a brother, Harold “Bud” Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilma Snyder, Dorothy Fisher, Robert Snyder, Agnes Hughes, Lorena Masterson and Shirley Warnsman.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm Friday October 2, 2020 at Lilly Dale Cemetery at Gatchel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Christian Church Scholarship Fund.
