Bill Goffinet

Paul William “Bill” Goffinet, 83, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away on March 1, 2023. Bill was born on May 25, 1939, in Bandon, Indiana, the son of the late Leo and Alice (George) Goffinet.

Bill graduated from Oil Township High School in 1958 and then enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Dolores Leclere on May 6, 1961. They shared a wonderful life together and were married for 61 years.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Tell City Band Boosters, Tell City Softball Program, Tell City Jaycees, the Legion, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and was a founding member of the Tell City Wrestling Club, Perry County Port Authority, and Perry County Development Corporation. Bill worked at Tell City Builders for many years and founded Goffinet Realty. He proudly served the community of Tell City by not only being their beloved mayor for 16 years but also serving as Tell City Clerk-Treasurer for 4 years. He then became the Southern Ambassador for the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. Bill received the Distinguished Citizen Award and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash.
 

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Goffinet; his children, Chris (Darla) Goffinet, David (Jane) Goffinet, Amy (Eric) Kehl all of Tell City, and Adam (Lucy) Goffinet of Cannelton; siblings, Jean Thomas, Carroll (Brenda) Goffinet, and Joe (Mona) Goffinet all of Tell City; ten grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah, and Reed Goffinet, Neal, Alyson, and Hanna Goffinet, Phillip, Elizabeth and Valerie Kehl, and Asher Goffinet; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Margot.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother Bob Goffinet and his wife Rita; his in-laws, Art and Evelyn Leclere, Betty Stiles, Jim and Pam Leclere, and Gerry Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Tell City.

There will be a Knights of Columbus Service on Friday evening at 7pm.

Visitation will be from 2pm to 8pm on Friday, March 03, 2023, and 9am to 11:30am on Saturday, March 04, 2023, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church, TC Wrestling Club, or TC Band Boosters.
