Bill Hinkle Obituary

William “Bill” T. Hinkle, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at RedBanks Skilled Nursing Center in Henderson, KY.

 

He was born on August 21, 1930, in Upper Lehigh, PA. He was united in marriage to Joy Alvey on May 19, 1959.

 

Bill joined the Navy in 1951, serving his country for 4 years. Upon returning home he worked as a foreman at Tell City Chair Factory from where he retired after many years. Bill was a past member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge 1424. He enjoyed his family, his dogs and woodworking.

 

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joy Hinkle of Henderson, KY; son, Jeff Hinkle of Henderson, KY; 3 grandchildren, Paige Hinkle of Cape Girardeau, MO, Ashley Hinkle of Atlanta, GA, Dalton Hinkle (Sarah) of Waverly, KY; along with 2 great-grandchildren, Addison Nichols and Liam Zeigler.

 

Bill was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Joe and Melba (Poehlein) Schaeffer and a sister, Mildred Rogier.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Owensboro Humane Society.
