On Jan. 8, 2020 at 5:55pm Brenda Sue Jacob entered the kingdom of Heaven, to be met at the Pearly Gates by her sons, Donnie and John Jacobs, her parents Dunward and Hazel (VanHoosier) Howe, her brother Dunnie Howe and her husband and best friend (Edwin Jacob) along with other family and friends.
She was born in Troy, IN on November 7, 1943, she was one of seven children.
She leaves her son, Ronnie Jacob (Mindy) of Tell City; four grandchildren, Ronnie E. Jacob, Brittany (Bo) Atchison, Zachary Jacob and Steven (Brianna) Smith; two brothers, Bill Howe and his companion Trish, Wayne Howe, 3 sisters, Donna Gogel, Mary Kellems, Georgia (Keith) Smith; 4 great grandchildren and other extended family.
Brenda was joined in union to her best friend and childhood sweetheart, Edwin Jacob on August 24, 1963. She often told stories of their shared love for drag racing and how she once beat Eddie at the dragstrip and how he would never race against her again after his defeat by her.
She retired from GE at the age of 55 taking an early retirement. Her work at GE included being a welder among other jobs at the plant. Brenda was regarded as a dedicated and hard worker.
Her favorite smell was the smell of Nitro Methane. She was a multi-time trophy award winner of the Powder Puff Drag Racing, racing her 1970 'Cuda and winning races at Chandler, IN and Hardingsburg, KY.
She had a passion for flowers and had a green thumb, she often could be found planting flowers around her yard and pond. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch, reading a good book and watching MASH and any John Wayne movie. She loved music, some of her favorite artist were Ozzy Osborne, Kris Kristofferson and Elvis being her favorite. She attended my concerts over the years with her children.
Visitation will be from 2 – 7 pm Saturday, Jan. 11 and from 11am to service time Sunday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home .Funeral services will be held at 1pm Sunday at the funeral home with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Troy, IN.
