Charles Pryor Obituary

Charles William Pryor, 84, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd, in New Albany, IN.

He was born on June 22, 1940, the son of Owen and Margaret (McGinnis) Pryor.

Charles graduated from Metz High School. He retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy after serving our country for over 20 years, during which he was a Naval recruiter in South Bend. Charles later went on to retire after many years of service as a CDL instructor with TDI “Truck Driving Institute” at the Sellersburg Campus. He was united in marriage to Marlene Peters on May 27, 2006. Charles was a past member of the VFW and the Moose. Some of his fondest memories, that he kept close to his heart, were his time driving truck for Feed the Hungry. He enjoyed watching his westerns and the time he spent with his family. Charles was quite the joke teller and always came prepared with a record amount of them to share.

Charles is survived by wife Marlene Pryor of Sellersburg; children, Owen (Brenda) Pryor of Golden Valley, AZ, Clif (Marquita) Pryor of Killeen, TX, Leona (Eric) Tibbetts of Pearce, AZ, Brian (Rebecca) Rhodes of Crestwood, KY, and Kevin Rhodes of Amherst, OH; siblings, Richard Pryor of Appleton City, MO, Mary Sheldon of Fort Scott, KS, Ruth (Terry) Wheatley of Rich Hill, MO, and Evelyn (Jim) Corl of Neosho, MO; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Pryor.
