Christine Hawkins Obituary

Christine Hawkins, 94, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Oakwood Health Campus.

She was born on February 2, 1930, in St. Croix, IN, to the late Martin and Delphine (Bodart) Flannagan.

Christine was a 1948 graduate of Oil Township High School. She was united in marriage to Estel Hawkins on July 9, 1951, and they shared 32 wonderful years together before his passing in 1984.

She had worked at General Electric and 3D, as well as Hooks and CVS Drug Stores. Christine was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and her local Homemakers Club. She liked playing cards like euchre and tripoly, square dancing, baking cookies, and attending crafts shows, from where she got her best ideas. Christine enjoyed sewing, especially quilts and barbie dolls clothes. She also enjoyed gardening and kept her back yard looking like a beautiful park. Christine was a prankster and will be remembered for the jokes she often played on her children. She loved her chocolate covered peanuts but not as much as she loved her family.

Surviving are her children, Denise Smith (Arnold) of Richmond, KY, Steve Hawkins (Patty) of Tell City, Janice Smith of Evansville, Don Hawkins (Cindy) of Heltonville, IN, and Allen Hawkins (Kristie) of Owensboro; son-in-law, Gary Burke; grandchildren, Kellie Smith (Patsy) Katie Perkins (Tommy), Joey Duff (Leisa), Michelle Glenn (Ike), Chris Hawkins (Kimberly), Nick Hawkins (Leah), Sarah Burke, Vanessa Davis (Nate), Ashley Cramer (Nick), Courtney Nelson (Jeremy), Adam Hawkins (Ashley), Emily Warner (Christian), Morgan Robbins (Blake), and Brittani Hawkins; 20 great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Estel Hawkins, a daughter, Pam Burke and her siblings, Agnes Brickner, Florence Flannagan, William Flannagan, Helen Beck, Charles Flannagan, Albert Flannagan, Anna Ramsey, Martin Flannagan, Irene Flamion, and Elanora Flannagan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Kolbe Wolniakowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2pm to 7pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, and from 8:30am to 9:30am on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN.
