Cindy Ayer May age 68 passed away on March 13, 2022 following a courageous four-month battle with a rare stomach cancer.
She was born March 5, 1954 in Evansville Indiana to Ray and Melba Tilley Ayer. She was a 1972 Tell City High School graduate.
Cindy attended Indiana University and was a honor graduate of Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing where she received the Deaconess Foundation Award . Cindy never met a stranger and she was a friend to everyone .
She was on the Board of Tell City Housing Authority, the Executive Board of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation, Tri Kappa society, she was Republican Precinct Committeeman for Tell City number 3 precinct.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose lodge.
Cindy was a nurse of 35 years. She opened Oakwood Health Campus as Director of Nursing in 2000 and for the last 10 years she was a nurse at Riverview Surgery Center in Rockport, a job she dearly loved and considered the staff there her family.
She is survived by mother Melba Ayer, 4 children Jeremy Deeg (Ashley), Amber Carrier(Chris), Brent May, Bryson May (Kara), a twin brother Mike Ayer (Andrea) , and 7 grandchildren, Caroline Grace, Catherine Garnet, Caden, Savannah, Aubree Clarissa and Victoria .
She was preceded in death by her father Ray Ayer and brother Kevin Ayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday March 17, 2022 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City, IN with entombment at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday and from 9:00am to 10:30am Thursday at the Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, 920 10th St. Tell City, IN.
