Cleta E. Dauby

Cleta E. Dauby, 96, passed away at Oakwood Health Campus on Saturday April 17, 2021.

She was born in Spencer County on Sept. 9, 1924 to John C. And Anna (Philipps) Strobel.

Cleta was united in marriage to Hubert Dauby on June 13, 1950.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and Tell City American Legion Post 213 Auxiliary and was the last surviving member of her home economics club Tell City Homemakers. She also had a passion for sending greeting card to family and friends for their birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, making sure the words described the recipient of her card. Cleta was an excellent seamstress, having worked at McCoy's Bridal Shop and the June Bug spanning a career of over 30 years sewing and altering bridal and prom dresses. She was always at her sewing machine cutting out pieces to make quilts. Cleta had a knack for combining different prints and colors and was always so happy to show everyone her finished product.

Surviving are three sons, Steve (Joyce) Dauby, Mike (Cindy) Dauby and Phil Dauby all of Tell City; a daughter Mary Jayne Miller of Evansville; a sister Marietta Collins and a brother Leo (Sharon) Strobel both of Tell City; grandchildren, Grant (Kassi) Dauby, Myra (Christian) Palmer, Kyle (Leah) Miller and Kory Miller; step grandchildren, Jade Heistand and Jared Harding; 7 great-grandchildren with another arriving in September.

Preceding Cleta in death besides her parents were her husband, Hubert, 2 sisters Esther Lennon and Irene Miller and a brother Urban Strobel.

Services will be 2:00 pm Monday April 19, 2021 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tell City.

Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time Monday at the funeral Home.
