DeWayne Brown Obituary

DeWayne Brown, 53, of rural Tell City, passed away April 7, 2025, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1971, to Larry and Mildred (Bruggeman) Brown. After Larry's passing, DeWayne was blessed to receive a second dad, Randall “Papaw” Dauby. From the age of 5, Randy helped Millie raise DeWayne and his siblings.

During his high school career, DeWayne was quite the athlete. He held records in the PLAC conference for track and carried that speed onto the football field. DeWayne worked at Danco Construction for many years and was a former owner of the Bandon Tavern. DeWayne was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was especially proud to be called dad by his 2 amazing sons, and Papaw by his grandson.

In addition to his mother Millie Dauby, he is survived by his children, Joe (Kira) Brown, and grandson, Liam, stationed in Japan and Jace Brown of rural Tell City; his sister, Lisa (Jim) Fisher and brother, Christopher (Tabitha) Brown, both of Tell City; along with many nephews, a few nieces and countless friends.

DeWayne was preceded in death by his father, Larry Brown; his stepfather, Randall Dauby; 2 nephews, Nathan and Dalton Ransom; and niece Grace Ransom.
