Dennis B. Hess, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his home in Tell City.
He was born on May 9, 1937, to the late John P. and Cecilia P. (Brinksneader) Hess.
After school, Denny joined the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Rita (Hale) Hess on January 24, 1987, in Jackson County, TN. They shared 24 years together before her passing in 2011.
Denny had worked for Alcoa and later retired from MasterBrand after many dedicated years of service. He was a long-standing member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. Denny was a tinkerer and there was nothing he couldn't fix. Even when he wouldn't succeed the first go round, he never gave up and would always figure it out. Denny loved to travel and had been on many adventures near and far. He was a good, kind man, who always wore a smile and loved his family deeply.
He is survived by his children, Denny (Deana) Hess of Tell City and Kathy Hess of Leavenworth; brothers, Mike (Mary) Hess of Leopold, IN, and Steve (Martha) Hess of Tell City; 5 grandchildren, Amanda McCallister, Trista Hess, Matthew Hess, Autumn Zampardi and Brandon Esterly; and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Denny was preceded in death by his siblings, Hubert Hess, Ronald Hess, Harold Hess, Allocieus Neyenhaus, Hilberta Hess, and Cecilia Hess.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 9:00am until service time.
