Dennis Rust Obituary

Dennis E. Rust, 75, of Evanston, Indiana died at his home on September 9, 2021.

He was born on November 25, 1945 to the late Fred and Clara (Dunn) Rust. One of six children he had four brothers, Ray Rust, Roger Rust, Willkie Rust, Richard Rust and he had a little sister, Linda Rust.

He graduated from Chrisney High School in Chrisney, Indiana and served in the National Guard. He worked for Maxon Marine as a welder and worked several years in construction which he enjoyed.

He enjoyed playing music and singing. Dennis and his wife of 53 years, Shirley Tate Rust, played bluegrass and gospel music and for a time performed in the Midstreem Bluegrass Band. They also played for nursing home residents, at church and at family gatherings with family members many who also played instruments and loved to sing

Survivors include his three children, Christine (Steve) York of Kenersville, NC, Elizabeth Newton of Tell City, IN, Sheila Rust of Camdenton, MO; siblings, Ray Rust of El Cajon, CA, Richard Rust of Petersburg, IN and Linda Rust of Evanston, IN; grandchildren, Jessica (York) Stoltz, Cody York, Corey Litherland, Trent Litherland, Debra Rust, Angelina Rust, Destiny Rust and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his wife, Shirley T. Rust, and brothers Willkie and Roger Rust.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday September 13, 2021 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial in Collins Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Harry McDonald will officiate.

Visitation will be from 8:00 am to service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Collins Chapel Cemetery.
