Doris Yvonne Burst

Doris Yvonne Burst, 96, passed away on Sunday May 11, 2025, at her home in Cannelton. She was born June 10, 1928, in Dodd, Indiana, daughter of the late Waverly Weatherholt and Mary Alice (Wilson) Howell.

She was united in marriage to Edward E. Burst on April 14, 1946, and they shared 72 years together before his passing in 2018. Doris retired from General Electric after many dedicated years of service. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Cannelton Historical Society. Doris enjoyed quilting, writing poems, and gardening, however her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family.

Doris is survived by her sons, Charles "Bud" Burst (Sandy) of Cannelton and Mike Burst of Tell City; daughters, Rosie Powers (Mitch) of Hawesville and Carla Harlen of Tell City; 29 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her children, Cheryl Freeman, Chris Burst, Mary Ann Cash, Mark Burst, Michelle Riley, and Jim Burst; and her siblings, Carroll Harding, Ralph Weatherholt, Lawrence Ivo Weatherholt, and Maxine Foster.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
