Dorothy J. Goble, 92, of Tell City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Wellington Parc in Owensboro, KY.
She was born on February 22, 1933, to the late William and Clara (Merkley) Wissel.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Daniel Curtis Goble, Jr. on July 7, 1952. They shared 65 wonderful years together before his passing in 2017. Dorothy retired from General Electric. She was a past Regent and current member of the Daughters of Isabella. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church as well as the Funeral Meal Director for many years. She enjoyed quilting, square and line dancing, cooking, and most of all her family and friends.
Surviving her daughters, Kathy (Jim) Smith of Dayton, OH and Brenda (Noel) Clayton of Owensboro; sons, Daniel (Joan) Goble of Tell City, and Patrick (Michelle) Goble of Indianapolis; sister, JoAnn Waninger (Kenny) of Fulda; brother, Bill (Barb) Wissel of Huntingburg; seven grandchildren, Amanda Smale of Indianapolis, Lesley Smale of Denver, Julie (Greg) Losurdo of New York, Matthew (Mayme) Clayton of Lexington, Kyle (Eryn) Clayton of Lexington, Hannah (Tom) Sinks of Indianapolis and Nicholas Goble of Cincinnati; and great-grandchildren, Henry Clayton, Nola Losurdo, and Miles Clayton.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her stepmother, Augusta Wissel; infant daughter, Rebecca Jo; and grandson Nathan Goble.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Tony Hollowell will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00pm Tuesday, March 4, 2025, with a D of I Service at 5:30, and from 8:30 – 9:30am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the D of I Scholarship Fund, St. Paul Catholic Church or St. Mary's Cemetery.
