Dorothy Elizabeth Reed, 99, of Tell City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023.
Dorothy was born in Tell City on September 13, 1923, in Tell City, IN to the late George and Anna (Schraner) Scott. She married Paul on October 12, 1941, and they raised their three children in Tell City. She obtained her teaching certificate from Purdue University and also worked in Human Services. Hobbies included gardening, studying her Bible, playing Scrabble, and checked her bucket list for visiting all 50 states.
Dorothy was a committed Christian and lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She died in the assurance of resurrection. In the words of St. Paul, “For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:15-16. We look forward this great family reunion.
She is survived by her daughters, Joretta (Reed) Vandivier and Cynthia (Reed) Townsend, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Randall Reed, and her brother, Bill Scott.
Funeral services will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tell City, Indiana, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023. A private burial was held prior to the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
