E.J. Lindauer, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at his home in Evanston, IN on September 10, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife Shirley “Brown” Lindauer of 66 years and his 5 children and grandchildren by his side.
E.J. was born in Troy, Indiana to Ethel and Irvin Lindauer. He was raised beside his siblings Norbert, Dorothea, Catherine, Marcy, and Harry.
E.J. worked for General Electric as a tool and die maker and later for the Town of Troy Street Department where he retired. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and searching for Indian artifacts, gardening as well as traveling weekly with his beloved wife Shirley to flea markets and many times out West to Wyoming, Montana and Utah to visit family. He very much enjoyed the morning trips to John Walkers Tire Shop in Evanston for the rumors and gossip plus, the food the wives made for all the good ole boys. He enjoyed spending time with his favorite Brother-in-Law Jerry Brown Sr., as well as his great friend Robert “Bob” Tuggle who preceded him in death last year and his good buddies John Walker, Steve Philips and Keith Moseby who visited him every Sunday so mom could attend church
He was a member of the squirrel club and the Tell City Church of Christ for more than 45 years.
E.J. will be missed dearly by his beloved wife of 65 years Shirley “Brown” Lindauer, his 5 children Rick & Theresa, Randy & Debbie, Roger, Rita and Benny Johnston and Rusty and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Shirley “Brown” Lindauer, his 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
E.J. was preceded in death by many loved ones, including his parents, Son Ronnie Lindauer, and his siblings Norbert, Dorothea, Catherine, and Marcy. He is survived by one sibling Harry Lindauer.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Stephen Syler for his care of 38 years, his church members, Pastor Billy Lane and Heart to Heart Hospice out of Jasper, Indiana.
Services will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, 11:00am at Tell City Church of Christ. Billy Lane will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Lily Dale Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm and on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 9:00am until 10:30am at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
