Eleanor Marie (Tippin) Minto, 86, passed away July 2, 2021 at Oakwood Health Campus.
Born November 4, 1934 in Washington County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Martin) Tippin. She served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 where she was stationed in Japan. Eleanor graduated from Indiana State University with a master's degree in education and taught Physical Education and was a Guidance Counselor for the Tell City School Corporation for 14 years.
She married Christian James Minto on August 23, 1961 who preceded her in death.
Eleanor was a kind and caring person with a great wit and a positive attitude who was always willing to help others. She enjoyed fishing, shrimping, playing cards, hunting and living in Florida and especially being with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Lou Ann Backer (Marty) of Cannelton, Indiana; grandchildren, Emily (Rusty) Podbelski of Dusseldorf, Germany, Tony (Brittany) Backer of Bargersville, Indiana; a great grandchild, Hudson Lee Backer; brothers and sisters, Howard (Marie) Tippin of Greencastle, Indiana, Mildred (Don) Rusk of Terre Haute, Indiana, Margaret Kessinger of Greencastle, Indiana, Marilyn (Burdette) Phillips of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joanne (Don) Walker of Fairland, Indiana, Morris (Nancy) Tippin of Medora, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Sally Minto of Tell City and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chris, a brother, Leon Tippin and a sister, Jeanette Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00Noon Friday, July 9, 2021 at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home with burial in Log Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00am to service time Friday at the funeral home .
Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Community Foundation or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
