Emma Jean Rust, 89, passed away February 28, 2021 at her home.
She was born January 19, 1932 at Tell City the daughter of the late Frederick and Orpha McDaniel Montgomery. Also preceding her in death are sisters, Bertha Montgomery Rainey, Carol Sue Montgomery, brothers Ed Montgomery and Louis Montgomery.
Jean worked at the movie theater in Tell City in her younger years. She was also employed by Indiana Bell, General Electric and Tell City Chair Company. She was a member of the Rebeccas, the American Legion Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church. In her younger years she served a a Boy Scout Leader.
Jean was married for 61 years to Jay B. “Rusty” Rust who preceded her in death.
Jean loved going to the casinos in Tunica, MS, playing the lottery, bowling with her bowling friends,traveling and spending time at thrift stores.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Gary) Sandage, Mitzi (Bill) Patmore, both of Tell City, IN, John (Teri) Rust of Lebanon, OH; siblings, Ann Montgomery Jones of Tell City, IN, Lucille Montgomery Thomas of Alabama, Warren Montgomery of Ohio; grandchildren, Mathew (Kate) Patmore and Laura Sandage of Tell City, Jonathan Rust of Dallas, TX, Justin Rust of Dayton, OH and 2 great- grandchildren, Nola and Maya.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral home with Rev. Sam Padgett officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
