He was born December 23, 1930 to Elmer and Edna Racine Stein. He grew up on a farm in Spencer County plowing fields with a team of horses. He served his country by joining the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his years of service he returned to the area and fell in love with Iris Reed. They were married April 24, 1955.
Eugene was a farmer at heart but also worked for many years at Alcoa's Warrick Operations. He began his career there as a security guard for the plant construction site and worked his way up to oil systems coordinator.
Eugene worked hard but also took time to enjoy his friends and family. Even at 89, he was playing chase with his great grandchildren. With love and compassion he cared for his wife of 63 years until she passed away.

He will be greatly missed.
